"Harry Potter is all about confronting fears, finding inner strength and doing what is right in the face of adversity...Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend." - Andrew Futral
it annoys AND humours me when people i.e. girls exclaim that stephenie meyer's their favourite author. seriously, people? do you love twilight because of her writing style? or because edward's so divinely beautiful? or maybe because...mm, let's see. because it's a no-brainer series of lovey dovey plot?
i tried reading my twilight series the 2nd time and i couldn't go beyond new moon because honestly, her writing style was so predictable. everytime edward/alice was angry, "they looked scary...like...a vampire" all the way from book 1 to 4.
HP, on the other hand, brought me new surprises each time i read every other book. the threads start to link up, and the story will never be whole till you understood every single detail from the philosopher's stone till the deathly hallows. i was pretty surprised when my finnish penpal told me that she was doing harry potter for her literature. whether it's good enough to have literary merit, that's up to the critics.
right, it's all good that edward was being protective of both bella's soul and virginity, but it gets boring after a while. bella's dependence on edward was really starting to annoy me. and honestly, if a boyfriend were to talk to me like edward does, i will fucking kill myself.
