This made me LOL, because it's so goddamn true.

may i quote from daniel at wordpress,

I don’t know if it’s just me or it’s true for most people, but Mediacorp programmes, particulary the Channel 8 drama series are a pain to watch! And so are the poorly duplicated and hosted gameshows and reality series (e.g. Don’t forget the lyrics, Live n Loaded etc)

I’m sure you guys share the same consensus:

1) Unrealistic’ acting/scenes which simply doesn’t happen in real life.

2) Over the top dressing (e.g. Make-up during sleeping/waking up scenes, super nice clothes in home scenes.

3) Lousy calefares, whose acting causes pain in the abdomen with their ultra exaggerated expressions. (even lead actors/actresses have lousy acting imo)

4) The same old actors and actresses in every drama series! We the audiences are sick of them and they are obviously overworked!

5) Lousy hosts for game shows/ reality series. (e.g. Gurmit Singh). His attempts to be funny never fail to bring goosebumps and drop jaws.

6) Lousy and wanna-be bands that is disgracing the music in Singapore rather than promoting it. And as if that’s not bad enough, the floor consists of mostly mats going crazy with the music, making funny faces in front of the camera and throwing each other in the air. Do I need to say more?

And what’s the saddest thing? We’ve got no other local media to choose from but Mediacorp! It’s so worth the $110 media license fee we pay every year.

it is so true, that's why i only tune in to starhub channels. with such predictable plot and lousy acting, the drama series are just too painful to watch. seriously, haven't every singaporean who watches telly figured that out already? something 'good' like Little Nonya comes along and everyone's going head over heels about it. i thank my parents for SCV because it might have been one of the best gifts ever in my entire life. i remember a friend of mine being 'talent spotted' at vivo a year ago while her mom was with her. when they found out that the guy's from mediacorp, her mom said something along the lines of, "please don't waste our time".

and btw, i don't think it's going to get any better in the future. we really need better scriptwriters. maybe after writing all the better scripts for classic shows in the 90s, their brains are juiced.

oh wait- i do watch channel 5 programmes. that includes the ellen show, martha stewart and rachael ray. mm, that's not really counted..right?
